A birthday is something that everyone on this planet has. Yes, other people may share the same day with you, but it is still ‘your’ special day. From a parent’s perspective, I have had more fun planning and celebrating my children’s birthdays more than my own. As my daughter just turned 4 earlier this month, and my son turns 3 in March, I have connected with my inner child and planned their parties. While picking out cake icing colors and invites are fun thoughts swirling around in my head, I also had thoughts of all the couples who are still waiting and hoping to sing Happy Birthday to a child of their own someday. And while for most, the dream will come true, there are still some that the dream may never materialize. What do you do then? Celebrate a niece or nephew’s birthday with all the enthusiasm you would have if it were your own child? Celebrate your own birthday in a more extraordinary way? How about putting a kid theme to your own birthday? I do not know what the answer is, but I do know that I am very blessed to sing Happy Birthday to two great kids, that happen to be mine.

“We had never been through this, so we were just going through the motions, not understanding the next step, in that way, the organization has opened up doors for a lot of couples.”
